SAFETY

1. Gloves shall be worn.

2. Ear plugs shall be worn.

3. Closed shoes shall be worn and Overalls.

SET-UP AND CUT WIRE TO LENGTH

1. Receive route card from supervisor.

2. Request required 8mm wire as detailed on route card from stores.

3. Wire can be cut on Wire Straightener 1 or 8.

4. Load wire onto swift with forklift.

5. Straigten front start piece of wire.

6. Feed wire through rollers using cutter.

7. Feed wire through spinners afterwards using cutter.

8. Press STOP / INCH button to push wire all the way through.

9. Remove shaft by removing springs  and loosen bolt with a 6mm allen key.

        

10. Loosen 2 blue botls to adjust the stopper to 258.00 mm  (Cut Length). 

11. Use a tape measure to set stopper to required length which is 258.00 mm ±1 mm.

N.B: When setting up ensure they set the first off to the mid point, thus allowing for variation.

 

 

12. Once length is set, tighten the 2 blue botls.

13. Put shaft back into place.

14. Put both long springs back on shaft to secure it.

15. Press the STOP / INCH button untill wire is cut.

16. Measure 5 pieces of cut length wire to verify if length is correct and measure with tape measure.

17. Is the cut length correct?

     a) No - repeat step 9 - 16

     b) Yes - Go to next step

18. Turn black Power Button on and press Run Button.

     

19. Ensure set-up pieces and if a adjustment is made, the peices that fall into the tray shall be  100% check before continuing with production run.

CHECKING METHOD

1a. Check cut length of wire by using a tape measure (Spec: 258.00 mm ±1.00 mm).

1b. Check length of part using checking fixture (CFIX00171).

 

 

2. Verify straightness of wire by rolling wire on the checking table. The wire must be able to roll freely. 

3. Check cropped ends to ensure that part is cropped straight (even)

                            

 

4. Gather +/- 20 pieces cut at a time and place them together on the checking table, this will allow to see visually if there are short / long pieces mixed in the batch.

QUALITY INSPECTION

  • The Last-off from the previous batch is to be compared to the current batch First-off. Last-off is to be placed in the production run.
  • Complete a First-off before comencing with production, record on system Inspection no. 6183
  • First-off sample to be tagged and remain with the checking fixture.

 

  • Conduct in-process inspections every hour and record on system Inspection no. 6184

 

  • At the end of the batch, last part is to be tagged and kept at the work station. First-off is to be placed in the production batch. Record last-off inspection for every batch on system inspection no. 6241

REJECTS

  • All reject parts are to be placed immediatley in the red reject bins provided.
  • All rejects should be logged on the system hourly. 

Scrap / Reject bins are to be emptied at the end of end job or at the end of shift if the job is running at the end of shift

PERFORMANCE TARGETS

Once the job has been logged on the system, you will be able to see the production figures and targets including

  • The Total Qty made against the job
  • The quantity prodcued on the shift (day),
  • The Std Time and the number of Parts required to be made per hour.

The picture to the left provides and example.

Production figures are to be logged on the system every hour.
